Reviews
Pho Dien it's definitely one of the most talked about pho restaurants in Houston, Like most old school pho restaurants it is a very simple restaurant with long tables that are shared by all those that come to enjoy this amazing elixir. The menu is simple having multiple styles of pho and a combination of smoothies, fruit, drinks, and teas and that is it, the service is quick and no nonsense, everybody is kind and they get the job done quickly and efficiently. The ambience is not going to win any awards but they work hard to keep everything clean and it is always packed and most of the time has a line of people waiting to sit down. This has been one of my favorites for many years take some time out of your day and go to. Bellaire and Kirkwood especially on a cool day and have a great bowl of pho
This is probably one of the best pho I've had! The portion of meat is generous, making the ratio of meat to noodles perfect! The broth is flavorful enough to where I didn't have to douse it in hoisin sauce. I usually only have leftover noodles when I eat pho, but with the generous portions of meat provided here, I couldn't finish the large bowl. The restaurant, however, feels tight where the tables are closely put together so it feels like you're sitting very close to the other parties. Like many other authentic pho restaurants, don't expect much service after ordering and you pay at the counter once you're done eating.
FAST SERVICE. You order and you get your food in minutes. The broth is so good and not salty at all. Hot and fresh. I got the small size, but if I was REALLY hungry then I would get the large size. They give you a good amount of meat for the small size too. You pay at the cash register so you don't have to wait for your bill to come to your table.
Though I mostly prefer other types of Vietnamese noodle soups, every once and awhile, I crave a no frills delicious bowl of simple beef pho. While there are a plethora of options available on every corner of Chinatown, the consensus has always mentioned Pho Dien as a top tier contender for the best pho in town. Came on a weekday for lunch, and the dining room was pretty full! There were definitely people from all walks of life and all ages. The menu is fairly simple, as the only entree they serve here is beef pho and chicken pho. They do carry a variety of traditional Vietnamese juices as well as blended smoothies though. I opted for the large dac biet which is a combination of meats, tripe, tendon, and meatball. I knew I wasn't going to be able to finish it, but I love having leftovers for the next day. I requested the broth extra hot, and it indeed came out extra hot and steaming. I was delighted by the amount of meat and noodles in this bowl! They definitely weren't skimping. I used a bit of the dried chiles in the condiment rack to spice up the broth towards the end, giving that tasty clean broth a little oomph. The only main complaint was the service. I saw the waiter once when he took my order, and that was it. Never received a refill of my empty water cup, and I had to go to the counter to get a togo container while paying. I also recommend coming with ear buds if dining alone. It gets pretty loud with all the voices bouncing around the hard surfaces when it's busy. Still worth it for some amazing pho!
Bellaire Boulevard has many great Vietnamese pho restaurants, but this one is certainly my favorite. Pho Dien's incredibly flavorful broth is a remarkably original feature and it stands out in my estimation. The extraordinary cleanliness, a delightful flavor and a perfect balance are exemplary; it is precisely what a single bowl of pho should be. Each sip reveals an important time commitment to its creation; it's wealthy but not overpowering. This pho is exceptionally delicious, a truly outstanding culinary achievement. It offers solace and it's deeply comforting. How is the atmosphere? Its level of sophistication is somewhat limited, yet that's precisely what makes it appealing. The floor might be somewhat slick, a common trait of a busy kitchen, but the restaurant's undeniable authenticity and extraordinarily delicious food more than make up for it. Pho Dien's exceptionally early opening hours are very appealing. Begin your day with one steaming bowl of pho. Since they serve breakfast, you can have a wonderfully energizing meal. Several avid pho enthusiasts can be found on Bellaire Boulevard. They should absolutely make a visit. I make it a point to visit whenever I'm in town.
